Mousse T shares what family life was like growing up and his father dreams that he had planned for him. Mousse T makes a huge decision to proceed forward with the music career and because of his choice he is rewarded with huge success.

TRUE HOUSE STORIES™ W/ HIPPIE TORRALES # 044 - PART 2
Hippie Torrales becomes one of the most sought after DJ's in the New Jersey area because of Club Dock's in the late 1970's. His famous trick was to let two records mix for long periods without touching them. He is brought in to open the Famous Club Zanzibar in 1979 that was formerly known as Abe's Disco in Newark New Jersey. As his career spans into the 1980's he begins his remix career and helps make The Clark Sisters Song called "You Brought The Sunshine" on Westbound Records a huge hit through his remix. He later hooks up with another label in the beginning of the house music movement called Music Village Recordings and produced and write a song called "Your Gonna Miss Me When I am Gone" which went on to sell millions of copies overseas. He is also responsible for helping Rosie Gaines have a huge dance hit and tours the world as a guest DJ and is still ever strong today. Great story by such a humble artist.

Mark Riley in this episode explains the formation of David Mancuso’s New York Record Pool and his duties working with David and The Loft. From there he becomes good friends with Judy Weinstein and together they help form For the Record Pool in February 1978. During his tenure in New York as a journalist he shares different stories, and one the most important highlights of his career was interviewing Nelson Mandela right after he was released from prison in South Africa. He also explains the code of dealing with and frequenting clubs such as The Loft and Paradise Garage. Even today he is currently running a podcast interviewing different celebrities and bringing awareness forward.

Bob Blank, known as the producer, musician, engineer and owner of Blank Tapes Studios NYC, talks about his humble beginnings working his way up from being a full-fledged engineer working for other studio owners around New York City and as well-being a session guitarist. He is pushed into a situation where he needed to fill a void and decided to open up his own studio at 22 years old and called it Blank Tapes Studios purchasing a Fairchild Console which he had to build and repair. His first initial work is with New York City Charanga Bands recording Salsa and as he starts to get his experience working with all these bands as he gets a chance to start to work on Disco Music.

So it's not the usual music you'll hear on Chris' infamous Lifted Music Show. But none the less, this is a history lesson of a different genre of Dance Music.

"I couldn't find any decent mixes of this era of Garage. Only the ultra cheesy commercial pop music that was about around the millennium. The tracks in this mix were the basis for that explosion of Craig David, So Solid, Artful Dodger etc. This is part of my history in dance music, that I will treasure forever - it's dedicated to those that were there at the time, yet I hope some people just getting into dance music and hearing these tracks for the first time can understand and appreciate the feel good emotion it brings, and reasoning why."
