Kym Mazelle thru all the internships at all different record labels and working in press and being an intern for Music Attorneys decides to set up her own label called Police Records. In 1987, she worked with record producer Marshall Jefferson on the single "Taste My Love” which she funded and released on her label. The single takes off in the UK and she talks to her good friend recording artist Adonis from Traxs Records, as he just came back off touring in the UK and gets him to introduce her to his booking agent David Levy. David helps manage her a tour and even gets EMI Records to attend her show, they love what they heard and A&R Rob Sawyer signs her on the spot. EMI signed Kym to a 5-album deal and they help create the "First Female House Artist" and brings her to the commercial stardom. TRUE HOUSE STORIES™ W/ DJ PAULETTE # 054 - PART 2
Dj Paulette begins to work at Piccadilly Radio, and became Record librarian. While at Piccadilly she studied and work towards a degree in English. Paulette hung out at the Hacienda and funded her education through DJing. She wound up becoming a presenter on a 2 series of Juice between the Years of 1992-94, which helped paid for her decks. Paulette played at Flesh - once a month and held a residency at Hacienda for 4 years.
Dj Paulette went on to play super clubs such as Ministry of Sound, Heaven, and worked her way to becoming a press officer for Mercury records and other labels. Whilst studying for her degree, Paulette decided not to go on to do her Masters, she chose music as her profession. She would watch and study how DJs such as Danny Krivit, Paul Trouble Anderson, Carl Cox and CJ Macintosh would work there sets and from what she heard she developed her own techniques and created her own style. Being a successful presenter helped kickstart Paulette’s DJ career playing at all the venues in the UK and abroad. She went on to producing music in addition to DJing and TV presenting and radio personality DJ. Paulette is now preparing to write a book. Learn how Paulette worked to stay in the business for over 30 years, riding the waves and trying to maintain a steady career.

The first album release is of cover tunes of the era and this was truly the beginning but the second album is where things really take off. Linda decides to take a break from the club and stage life and leaves the industry to take on a more important role, motherly duties. She is blessed to have a wonderful marriage with her husband of over 43 years and raises two beautiful kids into fine adults. She returned to the stage during the children's teen years for different track dates at clubs around the USA. Ron Carroll’s DJ Career in the late 1980s is cut short and you can hear why in this part of the interview. The Poster Wars Begin and Ron is blackballed from being able to promote or DJ at any parties in Chicago. Because he is shut out this now forces him to find another way to earn money in the music business. He discovers music production as his saving grace. In the productions world he hooks up with Ed Matthews and they together start to write songs. In the early 1990’s he ventures out to take a trip to Miami to go to the Winter Music Conference and meets NYC DJ Louie Vega. He asks Louie if he can write lyrics for any upcoming projects and Louie gives him the new demo music for the upcoming single with Barbara Tucker. In this part also Ron talks deeply about battling depression and trying to find himself in the years that follow after he has his first initial commercial success. As with all great life stories there is a happy and sad moments and you can listen to him talk about one of his biggest records that he wrote and sang on back in 1999 with the group Funkstar from France. This interview is deep and real.

The man behind the iconic brand Back 2 Basics speaks about his life from quitting high school and becoming a roadie. Come listen to one of the greatest promoters from the 1990s golden era of house music lay it all out on his rise to fame and being part of the New York City Club scene. His vision was to take a part of the New York Club scene and import into the UK and he did it and very well at that. Beer's obsession with the punk-music scene saw him become a groupie, hitching up with punk band The Clash. As a keen Photographer, he captured many exclusive shots of the bands he followed incorporating them into art projects at college. His persistence on the tour circuit led to his first proper role as a roadie and later as tour manager for bands including That Petrol Emotion, The Ramones, Ghost Dance, The Utah Saints, and The Sisters of Mercy who he lived with at the time. During a spell with Stourbridge noisemeisters, Pop Will Eat Itself, Beer found himself working on the 1987 Def Jam Records tour that included Public Enemy, Ll Cool J and Run - D.M.C., but life as a tour manager would soon takes its toll.

Listen to Tyree in part 2 explain how he worked with DJ / Producer Fast Eddie and how his drum beats were on every Dj International Record coming out, yet he was never credited for his superb drum programming. It was actually Joe Smith from Movin Records who told Tyree that his music was blowing up.  Later on in his career, Tyree played the drum machine on Joe Smooth’s hit ‘Promised Land’ and so many other records to name. Tyree take a job at Quantum Distribution, despite being paid a meer $3.50/an hour it became his way to learn all about the record business. It was Liddell Townsell who taught Tyree how to use a drum machine and Victor Romeo who had such a positive part to play in Tyree’s budding career.

As in the beginning of the dance scene there was no other “Dews” that played this style of music. A whole new movement was born from it and what came was "The Summer of Love” He is the first promoter to bring Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May and David Morales. He also brought Dj Hippie Torrales to sing his hit song called “Your Gonna Miss Me When I Am Gone” known under as Turntable Orchestra. He hosted many artist as well as Tyree Cooper and Sister Sledge so public performances were very important for him to put on stage. He also touches how he rose to the top in the club scene and how it all came tumbling down. Nicky shares about drug addiction and making a complete turnaround and his focus today is to get this double set album ready for the world. As covid ends he is set to play music again and is ready to take on the DJ World and make his mark as a hit making producer this time around.

Joe Smooth helped influence a decade of house and dance music elements in mainstream pop throughout the 1990s. By the new millennium he was approached to work with many pop, R&B, and other genre icons such as Destiny's Child, Whitney Houston, and Cisqo. In October 2004, "Promised Land" appeared in the video game Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Within the game, the song could be heard playing on the fictional House Music radio station SF-UR. He later launched his own record label Indie Art Music. The label has recently announced an upcoming song with Benny Benassi and other notable producers and artists. Indie Art Music set out with the goal of creating mainstream music in all genres with the ability to distribute, market, publish, and produce all within one single company. While the focus is on mainstream areas of the industry, Indie Art Music is currently developing and working with new artists like Amy DB of Chicago, Greg Tanoose of Austin, among others. He continues to work with his label as the CEO, manager, and executive producer, while still releasing music of his own. Smooth is a musician and producer, who has worked as a remixer, producer, engineer, and writer. He has earned gold and platinum record awards for his work, work behind the scenes with Grammy award-winning artists. Notable artists he has worked with include Bros, Whitney Houston, Donnell Jones, Destiny’s Child, Sisqo, Frankie Knuckles, Marshall Jefferson, A Guy Called Gerald, Lil Louis, D'Bora, Tyree Cooper, Fast Eddie, Fingers Inc., Art Of Noise, Sterling Void, Pet Shop Boys, Janet Jackson, The Style Council, New Order, and Steve Hurley. He launched a new record label in 2015, Indie Art Music, and has topped digital charts Traxsource and Beatport for song sales.
